Hi Folks,
I just signed up today because I am trying to help a close friend with a tough situation. I don't have a Dutchmen but I do have an Escape 5.0 fiberglass trailer and belong to the Escape forum and the Fiberglassrv forums which seem to be set up just like yours. I've found most folks on these forums to be good hearted folks.
So here is the situation. My friend and her husband purchased a 2013 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 2110rbs last spring and used it a few times since then. About 3 weeks ago he suffered a stroke and is still in the hospital here in New Mexico. It is unlikely they will ever be able to use this trailer again and the wife really needs to get it sold. I'm trying to help them out by doing the legwork for getting it sold.
I'm hoping you folks would be able to provide some advice on what such a rig might be worth on the private resale market. I've already checked out places like Camping World and local RV places and they are saying about $11-12K. Original purchase price was about $22K. There are dual batteries, a new 8" bed mattress, a TV and she wants to include all the various gear in the trailer (pots and pans, etc). If the private sale price is not much more than the commercial then it would be good to know that so she can go ahead and sell it that way and avoid the hassle of selling privately.

I welcome any and all advice from you. Thanks!!!

The boom in the Permian Basin oilfield, which extends into eastern NM, has created a housing shortage and a high demand for trailers.

Since 2008 I have sold 4 trailers by owner, one sold on the first day the last one I sold in one month. Get it posted with photos and a detailed description on Craiglist in clovis / portales, farmington, roswell / carlsbad AND odessa / midland, lubbock, san angelo. Re-post everyday around 5PM.

If you can, get it down in the oil patch parked off a major highway with a For Sale by Owner Sign.

If you sell it yourself in this market you'll be able to get top dollar, and considerably more than the trade in value.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks! That is useful information. We won't be able to get it moved anywhere but targeting that market is a good idea!
