New Kodiak Express 201QB owner from PA

Hello!

We just purchased a new 2016 Kodiak Express 201QB yesterday and will be picking it up on Saturday, a week from now. Been browsing so many nice trailers online and looked at several models and this one was the winner! We were actually wanting one with a slide out for the add'l space since we have two doggies, but this was so roomy and had all the things we wanted like the ample storage and cabinets, the large shower, fridge, oversized dinette and queen bed.... just love the clean layout and stainless appliances... everything looks so classy.

We were camping in a 2005 Trailmanor 2027SD previously quite happily for 11 years. Time for something new and something we don't have to set up and collapse... we're getting lazy Can't wait to get it and set it all up the way we like it and start using it. Just hope the hubby can back it into our driveway without too much trouble - ohhh we're having the dealer install a nice wireless camera to assist with that task.

So nice to see this forum... I can't wait to dig into all the helpful tips and great ideas here.

PDI is what the dealer is supposed to do before the unit is delivered and fix any deficiencies that are found. Like what the auto dealer does before you take delivery. Check the important stuff like the wheel torque, making sure that the oil is at the right level, clean the unit, etc.

What you are really doing is a Pre Delivery Orientation, on the day you go to pick up your camper. That had better by what it is, because if the dealer wants me to drag the rig off his lot, I better not find any deficiencies. He gets the payment when everything is working as it should and nothing is falling off.

Just for grins and giggles, take a tire pressure gauge and check the tire pressures. you might be unpleasantly suprised.

More profit in the warranty work than doing a proper PDI.

I am not sure about that, I think they are just hoping nothing goes wrong so they can get the PDI money for not doing anything. Funny you would mention the tire pressures... mine were way off. I think I blew the techs mind when I pulled up a load/pressure chart for on my smart phone for the tires on our new Concord.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 liter V8 with tow pkg, only 66 k miles on it.
Tow capacity 7200 lbs. Trailer weighs 3803 dry with cargo capacity 1597.
We like to go under some to allow for mountain towing. We also have anti-sway bar and weight distribution bars.

Getting everything set up inside now.
First trip out will be over July 4th for 2 weeks at Acadia Nat'l Park. Can't wait!

Interesting that your hand rail is folded forward, not many folks fold them that way. We always did, coming from the days of doors hinged on the "wrong" side. Seen more than one camper with doors sprung.

Ha... see I am such a newbie with this kind of trailer... didn't even know the door handle folded over to the left side! :-D It just seemed to make sense to me to fold it over the door.

I always fold mine the way you have it, heard too many stories of doors popping open running down the road, just gives a little more safety....

We fold ours that way also, have to as awning rail is left of the door. Our door is in the back .

That's usually the folks that don't use the deadbolt. It's not as much of a problem now, that the "engineers" have figured out the maybe a righthand door solves half the problem.

The old Airstreams were terrible, the first mod for one of them was a piece of 2x4 to wedge in the assist handle.
