Lightweight tongue jack stand

I have to raise my trailer pretty high to engage the weight dist hitch bars. I need a lightweight jack stand that provides a lot of lift. Any suggestions?

Seems no one else is going to answer this, so I will take a crack at it. I do not have a TT and therefore no WD hitch, but my next door neighbor does.

His immediate comment is that if you are having to lift any more than what the tongue jack will do, then your hitch is not properly adjusted in the first place. I have watched him hitch up and once the TT is on the ball, he lifts up just enough to allow him to hook up the bars, and that is not more than maybe 5-6".

Also a comment for clarification, a jack stand is just that, it is a stand to hold up something that has been lifted or jacked up. It will not lift anything by itself but they do have jack stands that can provide support to varying heights but sometimes you may have to place them on a block so that they can be run up high enough.

I admit I may be off base, and if I am, perhaps you could provide a more detailed description of the issue (with pics?) that might help clarify it for myself and others.

I was a little confused by the post as well. I think his tongue jack may be fully extended? I always put a 6x6 block under my foot pad before unhooking. My TT sits about as high up as any on the market and I always have plenty of extension to hook up my wd hitch, I can get it high enough to where I don't even need to use the extension bar to secure the chains.

Is your truck hitch height set up properly?

I use one of these. It is lightweight made from high density plastic of some kind.

I like to use one because we have had the axles flipped on our TT, so now it sits ~4" higher than stock. So that's ~4" extra that our tongue jack has to accommodate. Depending on the parking arrangement (if on a decline for instance), the tongue jack may no have adequate length to deal with it and make the TT level. Another benefit is it takes up a lot of the distance that the tongue jack needs to accommodate, making for quicker trailer hookups/unhooks. You do have to remove the tongue jack foot to use this, but since I use it every time I just leave the foot off permanently.

Hitch is set perfect. Trailer is level when hitched. Think my trailer just has more clearance than some others. I just ordered an extension that should solve the problem
