Just took delivery of a 2014 Voltage 3895 Toyhauler

Brand new to the 5th wheel toyhauler group, I have towed many bumper pull trailers up to 28 feet and every now and then a friends 38 foot deck over gooseneck.
First question...how worried should I be with the Westlake Super ST235/80R16 tires that came on it?
We will only be using it for one or two weekends a month, 150 plus or minus mile round trips until this summer when we go for a long haul.

Congrats in your new trailer. I had asked about them either here or another forum. Not to popular a tire so I did not get many opinions. I am changing mine before bringing the trailer home. I am putting G's on.

My 3600 had Westlake's on it also. As soon as I got it home I went down to Discount Tire and had Michelin XPS Rib's put on. Cost me $2100 to swap out brand new Westlake tires but I have absolutely no faith in any trailer tire made in China.

I replaced the tires on my 3905. Mine came with the deadly Akuret China Bombs. Although I had never blown one I had heard many horror story's about Chinese tires. So, I replaced with Goodyear G614's. Cost me around $2600. Ouch, but now I feel a little more secure going down the highway. Not 100% secure, but better.

Congratulations on your new trailer! We are awaiting the arrival of our 3895 in the next few weeks. We are also going to change our tires and going with the goodyears. I carry prescious cargo ( grandkids) and won't take a chance with cheap tires.

It's too bad that we have to pay twice on these rigs for some items. I for one will not buy another trailer if it's got cheaper tires on it. If the manufactures are cheaping out on the tires where else are they cutting costs so they can make an extra buck. :-ang

AS you have three axles those tires shouldn't be a problem. They came OEM on my two axle Teton in 03. Blew ever single one with in five years. :-sad-

I didn't have any problems with the tires but had several other issues with the camper. Mainly due to the bass box that was NOT secured and bounced all over in my 4,000 mile drive home destroying three of four heating ducts!
So I've put just over 4,000 miles on the tires from China. What kinda tires is everyone replacing them with?
This sure is a pain in the rear we spend $70+ K on a new camper and then we got spend another $2500 to get safe tires! That sucks!

Having three axles should help to cut down the weight per axle compared to us that only have 2 axles. A good name brand tire should work for you. As for me I'm switching over to 17.5 rims & tires. Will switch just 2 to start & install on the left side of mine. As my frig, stove & generator which is off set to that side makes it my heavy side. 215/75r-17.5 is just .3 of a inch lower than the stock ones.

Sounds about right. RV tires have a life expectancy of 3-5 years... Being exposed to sunlight is a killer on the exposed sidewalls.

You do cover them, right? Always good to give a thorough inspection before heading out. Despite the cost, you can drive easy knowing you got rid of the cheap original tires.
