A member who recently placed a deposit on a used 2024 Coleman LT 202RD by Dutchmen noticed possible water stains under an exterior "plug" near the bathroom, raising concerns about potential leaks, especially since the shower is located behind that wall. The member shared a screenshot from a YouTube video (not their actual RV) to illustrate the area in question and asked the community for help identifying the component and assessing the risk.

Responses indicate that, based on the... we put a deposit/hold on a used 2024 Coleman LT 202RD by Dutchmen
On the way home my wife asked me if I saw the water stains under the "plug" outside the bathroom and was I concerned.
Way to mention before we put money down :)

I didn't notice it, and here a screenshot from a youtube video (not our RV) that shows where she saw what might be water staining. IT's the area circled.
What is that? I can't tell from the picture (for that matter what is the control mounted above it?)

The concern is that the shower is behind that wall, so does it indicate some water got in that area and was it supposed to? (again this is not a pic from the actual trailer so it has no water stain)

We're going to have a certified 3rd party inspector look at it, and I will make sure to mention this, but I was wondering in the meantime.

my uneducated guess is this is a leak from a faucet or line going into the faucet because it appears to be too high for a drain or any water pooling. Even if your wife didn't point it out before you put down the deposit you should have ample time for the PDI where you can note everything. There are some checklists available on this site you can use to be very thorough. Do not rush the PDI! Not everything! Remember, once you take delivery the warranty clock starts so in the event there are significant issues I would delay delivery until after they are all fixed. The salesperson will tell you not to worry and just bring it back to get it all handled and watch how difficult that will be!

I would be a real hard ass on this. You have all the leverage right now. It will also be a good indicator of how they will treat you for the upcoming warranty repairs you will need in the first months of ownership.

By the way, I would plan on one very quick return to the dealer for initial repairs after maybe your second or third time out. Then another repair trip in the 6 month window to make sure all the first repairs were done correctly and to also have new stuff fixed, then the last one as close as possible to the end of the warranty period to get everything fixed!

BTW, if there is no warranty period because it is used then be extra diligent on the PDI!

what do you think the black circled thing is though? (remember this picture is from a video of a new RV, it's not what I'm complaining about, it's what my wife called a "plug" and saw possible damage around it)

The 3rd party inspector I'm hiring seems to eb highly recommended, but I will also do my own inspection.

Really next to impossible to determine based on the info and picture you provided.
A close up of the actual area would be more helpful. You mention under a plug on the wall, What kind of plug? Possible the stain originated from the the visible side of the wall
You didn't mention if you bought this from a dealer of some sort, or a private seller.
Either way you need to definitely question the seller for details, and or any correctional repairs. Goo luck and welcome to rv-ing.

As I mentioned my wife only told m about it after we ke de te the dealership. I was hoping someone with the same model could tell me what it is, otherwise I agree you can't tell.

I can’t see it well but the original post the bottom picture looks like a battery shutoff for a class c trailer.

this is a pretty basic trailer, but it's possible there is a battery shutoff.
for what it's worth the bigger box above it (chest-level) is the thermostat that controls the heat (the AC is controlled from the AC unit itself), at least based on a youtube video of the same trailer.

The inspector said it was the CO2 detector. He agrees that there is a discoloration that looks like it could have been water damage but ran moisture test, ran the shower, etc .. and saw no sign of moisture
He said it might have been a leak early in the trailer's life that has been well fixed and is no longer a problem.

The full inspection came out positive so I may own that trailer soon.
