Hello all,

I'm Dave from New Mexico. My family and I (wife & 2 girls ages 9 & 11) are taking delivery of a 2013 2819BHS Aspen Trail on Wednesday. I'm excited but nervous as well. I've read where folks have all kinds of problems with new RV's so naturally I don't want to buy a $22,000 problem.

We love camping up in the high country but tent camping is becoming more & more of an ordeal each time. So we've decided to take the RV plunge.

The trailer weighs approx 6,500 dry and is 32 feet long bumper to end of hitch. It's a little longer than we originally planned but we'll see how it goes. I'm pulling it with a 2012 F250 4x4 Crew Cab with the 6.3L V8 gas moror. I expect to get really good mileage with this TV - hoping for upwards of 18 to 22 MPG. HaHaHa... NOT, maybe down hill in neutral.

Do any of you have experience with the Aspen Trail - good or bad? There's still time for me to back-out.:)

Thanks!

Hello, Dave.

Welcome to the group; and Congrats on the new Aspen Trail.

Welcome, Dave, join the crowd!

I bought a 2013 Aspen Trail, model 1900RB (or was that BR?). Anyway, I've had a lot to do to bring it up to snuff. If I had it to do over again, and knowing then what I know now, I'd still buy this one. It was at a good price, and everything that needed to be done was within my capability. But as one of the guys said a while back, you need to be a handyman. That's true.

At least my wife knew where I was at if I wasn't in the house!

Welcome! Sounds like an exciting new adventure for your family.

Regarding mileage -You just need to find campgrounds that are downhill both ways (and let us know when you do)

Welcome Dave from New Mexico! This is Dave from Wisconsin, also marrried with 9 & 11 year old daughters... :) How's that working out for you?

The two girls are the ones who want the RV the most. We've rented motor homes but never been out in a trailer. Kids in a motor home eliminates the "are we there yet?" factor.

The oldest girl just got her first cell phone. Her reward for making the honour role but now the youngest is jealous and also getting good grades...

Our 11 year old is begging for a phone too. She's throwin' out every excuse in the book for getting one. Little does she know what's coming from Santa! :-tup

Nice..!! She'll be crazy with excitement! Katelyn's biggest reason is to have in case of an emergency. All the texting, cool apps, talking to friends, camera, video etc.. are just added bonuses.. Katelyn can hardly control her urge to text her friends. She called he Papa this evening just to see how he was doing :) Small price to pay for making the honor role. If the grades drop so goes the phone..
