It will reduce drag as it is smooth vs the older "lapped" versions (AND yes, I realize that someone will criticize my statement somehow). I was told it was a "thicker" metal vs the sides. AND, it should be easier to clean off the bugs vs the lapped versions. And it does look better, but then again, I am glad they moved away from the "swoops" anyway as my last one was dead in the middle of the swoop era when they were black with the blue and white swoops...but much better than the white with the other colors including red swoop era.
