When I bought this unit I noticed that it had connectors on the roof for panels and had wiring in the cargo for what appeared to be a charger controller.
Based on this knowledge I ordered a 30 amp charger/controller, two 100 amp solar panels w/z brackets (all from Renogy), two 6 foot cable extensions, a y-cable set, and two 10 amp inline fuses. I wired up the charger to the battery with success. Then mounted the panels on the roof using butyl tape and Dicor self leveling sealant. Wired the panels, then plugged them into the roof connectors. Nothing!!!!
To make a long story short who ever installed the cable entry plate and wires only connected the positive wire with a wire nut and did not connect the ground wire at all to the structural wiring. Instead of a neat install when I went to remove the cable entry plate only three screws were into the roof. The opening looked to have been made with a hatchet. I made a splice to provide an anchor for the fourth screw and used liquid nails to attach it. I C-clamped it overnight. It worked. I had enough structure wire that I didn't need to splice wire at the top. I installed a new cable entry plate, put new connectors on the wire. Then I verified the wiring at the bottom and hooked up the panels at the top. Success. Anyone else had an issue like this? I believe this was installed at the factory or at a dealer ship. It was a butcher job by whoever did it and no quality control.
