We just bought a 13' v3005, which is a huge step up from our 1970's ish 8' box camper! Its a little overwhelming right now being its the first 5th wheel I've had, but I'm sure I'll get a handle on it next season.
I have spent a bit of time on the site looking for answers for a few questions I have, and only found a answer for one...How to re-align the slides.

If you wouldn't mind helping me out I'd appreciate it:
-Has anyone added additional tie downs in the floor of the garage? What are things to know when doing so? Under floor obstructions ect?
-I want to change out all the light bulbs to LED, can anyone recommend where to buy them?

2005 4x4, auto, quad cab, long box

A friend asked me questions regarding GVWR and combination weight. I realize now that I have to get an "House Trailer endorsement" on my licence to legally haul this unit since it weighs over 4600kg's (British Columbia, Canada)
To get this endorsement I am required to complete a written test and a road test. Ensuring your truck is capable to haul the load is the first thing to know. I only assumed my truck can haul this trailer, so I thought I'd look for sure.
I have been frustrating myself trying to find this info. My owners manual does not give specific weights for my truck!! All I know is the GVWR of the truck is 4491kg, but what is the weight of the truck with no pay load? 1000kgs?
The trailer gvwr is 7484kg
hitch weight 1149kg

Any Help would be appreciated

Ok in American is the truck a 1500/150, 2500/250, or 3500/350. your weight should be on the door jam. if it is a 3500 it should be good.
 
Yeah my bad on the truck description, its a 3500 Cummings, with 3.73's

I am also considering that should I get into a accident the insurance company will pull the capacities and allowances. That would be providing that the toy hauler is not over loaded but at its labeled GVWR of 16,500lbs .

Trailer GVWR + Truck curb weight
16000 + 7012
=23,512lbs

That would put me over by 2512 on the GCWR by my calculations. I think I'm shopping for another truck!

Please disprove me...

Well lets see IF you get in a accident, IF your toy hauler is loaded to the max, IF your truck weights 7012, then yes you are over loaded. That's alot of IFs.
Now IF you are needing a reason to get a new truck and you other half is asking why you now have the answers.:roll: :LOL:
Oh & don't tell her that I've seen trucks like yours towing 42' toy haulers.;)
 
The 7012 sounds light to me (I am guessing that is in pounds?) I have a 1996 F350 CC, PSD Dually with a full fuel load and nothing else I roll the scales at 7200#, start adding things like tool box and driver and that runs another 500-700 up real quick.

purchased a coleman 271rb on 24 september. have had it out on one trip so far. as always had some issues that require attention. aside from the issues we love the trailer. will be going in to the dealership to have these problems corrected. had previously owned a 2006 four winds 24q-ssl made by dutchmen. really suprised on the decline of workmanship over the last 8 years.had very few problems with the four winds.
