Awning trouble

Good afternoon, I am new to having a camper as well as being a guest on a forum.
I am wondering if I can get some help. I have a 2021 Coleman lantern. it has never been used. it has been sitting in a driveway since it was purchased in 2021. I just took ownership from my brother. i towed it to my house yesterday. My wife and kids were going through everything to get familiar on how everything works. trying to open the awning we realized it is not working. My brother said he opened it about 6 - 10 inches when it was delivered to his house back in 2021.
I checked the fuse in panel. fuse # 8 is good. marked by manufacturer as the awning fuse.
I did notice that when we hit the awning switch to open or even close it. the awning does nothing, but you start to hear a fan coming from the fuse panel. only when the switch is engaged. once you let off the switch. the fan sound stops.
there are a few spots in the fuse panel without any fuses there. But i have yet to check them with fuses.
has anyone had any issues like this and may know how to resolve it?
we have a trip coming up in a few weeks, and we will need our awning.
