Hi everyone,

I just picked up an ’07 Kodiak 214! It needs a little work, but I’m excited to get started. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the rear bumper to a square one for wastewater hose storage, or added a storage bin for extra space.

I’m also thinking about installing a 12V LED light strip under the awning — any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

Chris

Even though a 12 volt light strip pulls between one and three amps, I’d want it connected to a new 10 amp circuit, unless the awning is pre wired for one.

I have not had luck tapping into existing 12 volt wiring to add an accessory. Just such thin wiring and too much voltage loss.

I have added an extra fuse box for things like this.

Getting the wire from the battery to the awning may be fun. For me that would be going through the plastic underbelly as then behind the cabinets.

I have not had any luck with light strips, the heat loosens the “adhesive” and they start to come off. Not sure what to tell you ! I would be interested to hear what everybody’s suggestions are.

I was planning on affixing a channel to the side under where the awning attaches and putting the light strip in that.

Under the awning, used silicone RTV on the back of mine and it worked.
Did you blue tape it up until the RTV dried? I guess I should try that. Seems like (in my mind) it should work. I installed a strip in the closet over the washer and dryer and every bit of it didn’t stick!

on the top left you can make out the black RTV I used. I think it was the black RTV for gaskets on cars.

I only secured a foot, so I did not need blue tape
