I'll be damned! The old boxes had the hinges on top for swapping. Good we know is wasn't what I thought.
Can you adjust the hinge so the door doesn't sag?

I wonder if someone didn't fashion that to cover say, a broken corner of the liner?
I know that's negative thinking but it is the RV industry and I have experienced broken liners before.
