What about Mount Rainier? Is it worth spending a bunch of time there? I am thinking of skipping it and going straight to Seattle and staying at a KOA near the city to be able to get to see Seattle....

Another option is instead of heading South at Portland, skip Portland and the Mt Rainer area and straight to Lincoln City for 3 or 4 nights. From there head north to Astoria and then back east again...

Yeah, we are thinking now of doing Rushmore/Yellowstone and then maybe the west coast as part of another trip. We might only have two weeks and not sure we can make the coast in as two-week trip.
