Do you mean clean it up or tear it off? Everything i've ever read/watched or done is just to give the old stuff a good cleaning and caulk over it.

Yes, you need to check at least every spring/fall for sealant cracks. I've had to caulk a few spots on my 2014 as well. I was referring to the "roof coating" the op was talking about.
