I believe that the fittings works on the principle of compression. You have to make sure the fittings are tight. Once they are tight, they stay tight as well. I have never had any trouble with mine...

Are you talking about Rhino Hose? If so it doesn't require any grease that I know of. Mine works great. No leaks and no kinks.
