I should have added the part about the tag on the axle. The axle rating is whatever the axle data plate says.

It's the wall thickness of the tube that dictates the weight, you can upgrade the brakes and bearings, but it is still a 4400# axle.

I should have picked up on the fact that this was the first time you used your furnace. I now think that the problem may be the residue left over from the manufacturing of the furnace....
