If you're the type who rarely uses the generator... why keep hauling around extra weight (fuel) that you don't need?

I think that'd be an excellent idea if you want to drain it occasionally... but beforehand, I'd definitely use a hand-pump to transfer as much out of the tank as I could. Then I'd leave the cap off...
