I don't leave it open I watch the levels and empty it as often as it shows full, keeping an eye on the black tank, which takes a while longer to fill up. I make sure the gray is full prior to empting...

I live in my 2017 voltage 3005 full time and all the gray tank drains Bathroom sink, shower kitchen sinks have a horrible odor, I use fabuloso, the sani sticks, clorox and water mix, and a liquid...
