Question Ceiling Fan Power

I had to replace my ceiling fan on an Infinity 3850RL and when I pulled the old fan down, I found that there was no power to the unit. First thing I thought was a wall switch flipped ... Nope. Checked the fuses and found one blown for the "Kitchen" replaced ... all good but still no power to the ceiling fan. All visible switches were flipped on and off ... still no power. What am I missing?

Is this a 12 V fan? 120 V fan? Fuse makes me think 12 V.

How far back can you trace no power? does the fuse have power?

old fan motor was rated for 120v. All breakers and 12v fuses are good.

I doubt I can add anything you haven’t tried.

If there is power after the breaker, and there is no power at the fan, than the break is between. If you find the circuit breaker that controls it see what doesn’t work. Could be something like the fan is wired in the GFCI string at the end, and wiring has slipped out of the last outlet. Could be other things are out also. Just helps trace the break.

I’ve used a snake cam to trace wiring, but that was kind of scary with all the random wires I saw.

Thanks for the advise Chrisski. I put the project on hold for the moment but will tackle with another friend in a couple of days.

Mark, if the fan motor was rated at 120 volts then there's your problem.

Suggest you pick up a Fantastic fan or something like it that runs on 12volts and run 2wires from the nearest light fixture to the fan through the ceiling. Then you will have the fan available regardless of whether you are plugged in to 120 volts or are running on battery. It's an easy thing to do. Replacing the fan is easy as well since most fans use the same size opening in the roof.

Thanks ... I may have to revert to that but I have one more thing to check.
