Hi all. Im a first time camper owner. My trailer has been plugged into the shore line and been fine. I lost power and my trailer woild swith over to battery. When i bought it from the dealership 4 months ago it was a brand new battery. Also when i plug iy back into my truck the battery works fine....please any ideas?

Not sure I understand your question. Are you saying that you lose power when you stop using shore power?

If the battery or batteries are in fact new then you might have a battery disconnect that is switched off.

Can you put a multi meter on your battery and check the voltage? If you have even really low voltage at least some interior lights should work. If nothing works at all and you have somewhere around 12 volts at the battery turn something is likely switched off or disconnected.

Yes sorry if it was unclear. You are correct that is what is happening. I thought of that as well. I cant find a switch anywhere. Nothing works at all.

Your tow vehicle provides 12 volts through the 7 pin trailer connector.
It goes directly to the battery, possibly through a fuse or circuit breaker.
From there it goes to a fuse panel inside your TT (travel trailer).
The fuse panel then distributes 12 volts to different appliances.

The TT battery may have a disconnect switch mounted near the battery. If it is "off", the TT battery will not supply power, nor will it recharge.

There also may be a fuse or circuit breaker near the battery. It may prevent the battery from supplying power or charging.

When you are plugged into shore power, the converter in your TT converts 120 volts AC to 12 volts DC.
The output of the converter goes to the fuse panel like the 7 pin hitch connector.
The converter also charges the battery.
If a disconnect switch near the battery is "off", it will not charge.

How long did rv sit not plugged in. The rv has things that are always draining the battery. Even factory disconnect do not really disconnect your battery if you do not have one install a disconnect switch in the negative cable to ground.

I have had exactly those symptoms when my battery failed on a couple of occasions. Worked fine plugged in, or attached to the TV, but nothing when unplugged. If you have verified that there is no disconnect switch in the off position (this has fooled me more than once on my current trailer, especially after having it serviced) I suggest having the battery tested. It could be a bad battery.
