I've been towing a 2013 Voltage 3105 TH with a 2002 F250 supercab, long bed SRW 7.3 diesel. The GVW on the 3105 is 16,500, which is over the F250's rated capacity. That said, we've towed to FL, and to ME & back. The transmission did not like towing up our mountain on the first trip back from ME. Ended up having the trans rebuilt by a custom rebuilder with an aftermarket billet torque converter. No more trans problems after several more FL and ME trips. The rig gets a bit squirrelly on step downhills, need to back the speed down. I normally tow around 62 MPH. When I asked the Ford dealer to look at the front end alignment, due to uneven tire wear, they said the alignment was fine, I had too much weight for the truck, and the front end was going light.
The truck is 14 years old, it's in great shape, no body rust, the engine runs great, and the trans was rebuilt, but as we're looking to retire soon, and planning to take the TH out west with real mountains, we decided to buy a new truck. Our F350 King Ranch, crew cab, long bed, 6.7 diesel, with 4.3 rear and dual rear wheels starts down the assembly line today. We'll be well under max towing capacity, and should we decide to get a bigger TH, we'll have the capacity.
Now to sell the F250. Anyone in the northern NJ area who might be interested in a well maintained solid truck, with a Reese Titan 20K 5th wheel hitch, PM me.
