New Kodiak hitch ball not locking?

We bought this last November. Ever since new it has given me minor fits getting the ball locked. Now its a problem, I think.

My previous experience with balking hitch balls has been to drop onto the ball from the leading edge, if that makes sense. Not completely centered. Always worked. This time something does not look right.
Is it just me??

Question?
If I can put a lock thru it. Can I assume it is down and locked??

Thanks.
Bill
Have fun

Looks like it may need to be cleaned and lubed or possibly adjusted. To check if the ball is fully locked down try to pick the trailer back up with the jack after it is attached to the ball and locked down.

It looks locked, also looks like it could use a little lube. As Aaron suggested, try lifting the trailer (with the jack) after it is locked down. If the truck lifts past level, it's locked. The other way is to feel at the bottom of the ball to see if the tang (coupler clamp) is down below the ball at the neck.

It almost appears that your hitch is angled and that the trailer tongue is hitting the edge. you may need to adjust the angle of you hitch. also when its locked on look underneath to make sure its adjusted correctly, the latch can be adjusted on the bottom.

Thanks
I did lube it yesterday.
And it does pick up with the jack.
Will try again this morning
Have fun.

The angle may look wrong because I had not hooked up the equalizer hitch yet.
Will check as you suggested.
Thanks a lot.

I figured it out.

For some reason I was pulling the "release" to far back. It may have been locked. Not sure.

Now it looks correct.

Thanks for the help.

Okay, it appears I was pulling the release too far back and causing what I saw as a misalignment. IF it was locked, I am not sure.

But, by not pulling it back too far, it locked and looks correct to me.

Thanks again.
