Great video, very graphic and shows exactley why weight distribution is so important. I've seen plenty of tails wagging to dog in my years of towing.

In my dumber days, I've even created a monster like that. Sure glad I only towed it a hundred miles and not thousands.

Contrary to some folks faith in the electronic stability controls that some vehicles have, you will never over come a curb slapper like that. Seen a few of them driving the "Highway through Hell." Over loaded vehicles travelling way too fast down some of those 8%+ grades.

I saw that video yesterday on Jalopnik website and was going to post it here as well but you got to it first .

It would have been interesting too if they could have shown what a difference sway bars makes.

The message I got from the video is proper tongue weight is absolutely necessary and loading the trailer heavy in the back to reduce it may not work well. A heavy tongue weight is sometimes your best friend.

As long as you don't get to the other extreme and unload the frontend to the point that your steering is lightened up and your wandering all over your lane.

I'd love to see a full size demo of that same thing happening towing with a Hensley. I can see the buffeting of the camper in the mirrors, but can never feel a wiggle in the truck.

That's when the weight distribution system comes into play.

Tell that to the guy that flew past me about a month ago, at about 75MPH, down an 8% grade.

The guys lucky he had both lanes to himself, because he needed both of them and I'm glad he didn't start the whipsaw untill he was well past me. I could see by the attitude of the trailer and the truck, that it was a disaster waiting to happen.

Must have been one of those guys that thinks his fancy computer controlled truck would save him from anything, He was sure hammering the brakes and everytime he did the back end of the trailer snapped the other way.

Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but that day a couple hundred miles east and pickup pulling a TT got written off in a 1 (thank God) vehicle wreck.
