Everything is bigger in Texas

Including the rocks!!!

Safelite says this chip, that is just under 6 inches, is reapirable???

Windshield Repair from Safelite AutoGlass®

Windshield damage is frustrating – now you have to get it fixed. The good news is that if you have a chip or crack that’s 6 inches or smaller, a quick windshield repair may be all you need.

I have had Safelite repair a windshield for me in the past. While they guarantee the repair is structurally sound, we could see the repair and it was really annoying to look through. They can not repair any damage that is spider webbed. Knowing this now, I would "help" the windshield spider web.

Yep, might want to 'tap' on it a few times to make sure it's sound before Safelite shows up.

I've had a lot of success repairing the small dime size chips. Safelite says up to 6 inches can be repaired... but I think I'm gonna pony up my deductible and get a new windshield, that "chip" is the size of my fist.

Ouch!

It's a shame you don't live in Florida, we get a free windshield once a year, (might be every two years) with no deductible or hit against your insurance.

Texas, yes we were in the area when they had a nice little storm, where we lost out TV Antenna while we were on our way to Houston, The winds were so strong, we were driving at only 20mph on the freeway

You ain't a kidding. The worst rain storm I ever saw was in Dalhart, Tx. Like we say in Nevada, it was raining like a double "female organed" cow pi$$ing on a flat rock. I carry no deductible on my glass here, as a windshield is usually pitted up pretty good here in a year or two. Hard to see when the sun is in your eyes. I'm pretty sure it's only like 5 bucks more a month here.

Texas = big bugs too.

Drove through Texas from AZ going to Memphis to pick up our new trailer a few weeks ago. Seems like you are in Texas forever. Damn the bug were huge. Windshield looked like a battle ground. Had to clean every gas stop. After the round trip, when I got home to AZ..had to scrub the grill and clean out the radiator!!!
