Air Intake Systems
I'm looking at air intake systems. I live in Denver and most camping sites we visit require a drive over the divide at about 11,000'. I just got a SuperChips engine tuner to tune my Suburban for heavy tow but am looking for every advantage I can get.
Here's an example of what I'm looking at. This isn't necessarily the one I would get, just an example.
Afe - MagnumFORCE Stage-2 PRO 5R Intake System | 4WheelParts.com
Thanks,
Dale

I put an S&B on my 6.7l Cummins, with the air scoop. Not sure if they have the same setup for your Suburban, but the thing I like about the S&B is that it has a closed air box, so your not getting any engine bay heat into the intake.
The intake temperature is reduced by 20-30F.

I went with the Banks, intake & exhaust, but they may be mostly diesel people. Improved towing mpg & range about 25%.

I have all Banks hardware. With the "superscoop" there is no warn engine bay air introduction.

Interesting thing is the Banks and S&B look the same, except for the logo on the scoop.
Have you done anything else besides the intake and exhaust?

Yes - I did the whole Banks Power Pack system, which included intake, exhaust, Banks IQ (which gives you a little dashboard control screen via a Windows CE device on a USB cord) and the Intercooler. Also added the Speedbrake (since my '05 did not come with diesel engine braking) which makes the downhills a lot safer.

I had the same setup as VCToyhauler. I removed the Banks IQ in favor of the MADS SMarty Jr and my EGT dropped an average of 200-300 degrees throughout the power band.

I use S&B on my Duramax. If you drive a Chevy or a Dodge the only tuner worth spending your money on is EFI-Live. Nothing else compares.
