Kodiak 181E hybrid bunk bed question

[left:2bbwo3gf]I have a 2012 kodiak 181E hybrid trailer. We like the fold down bunk beds for the tent trailer like sleeping compartments. However, the bow rods are not fixed to the bunk doors with a hinge like a tent trailer. The bow rods have to be inserted into plastic fasteners which require climbing into the bed while struggling with the tent end. Also, the bow rods are loose when disconnected and tend to get in the way when closing the bunk beds It would be far easier if the bow rods were attached with a hinge so that they could be pushed into open position with the shepherd rod. Also, they would fold down and be held out of the way when closing the beds I asked my dealer if he could modify but he was not helpful. Does anyone have any suggestions how I might modify the connections?[/left:2bbwo3gf]

Re: Kodiak 181E hybrid bunk bed question

I have a buddy with the same trailer and the same issue. He had the dealer look at it and they fixed one bunk, but then the other bunk had the same issue so he took it back in. I'll ask him (and the dealer) what was done to correct the issue.

I know he also had a problem with the antenna hitting the AC unit on the roof so the dealer had to move the antenna. They also had a prolem with the kitchen spout breaking off of the flexible hose.

Dave.

Re: Kodiak 181E hybrid bunk bed question

I talked to my buddy and here is his reply:

"Dealership told us they are replacing the cups at the end of the bed, but same thing, service guy doesn't think that this will solve the problem. We'll see this week how they work. We should be getting ours back sometime this week and that will be the first thing we look at! He doesn't know what he'll do if this doesn't solve the problem."

So it sounds like you're not alone with this issue...

Re: Kodiak 181E hybrid bunk bed question

Thanks for the follow-up. Its good to know I'm not alone. Love the trailer other than this minor inconvenience. Will likely attempt to manufacture my own hinges and rivet to the bow rods when I have some time. Will keep you posted.

Thanks again for looking into.
