Slide issue

I have a 2010 Kodiak 22KS. This camper has a bed slide that goes out the rear of the camper. The right side cable system slide mount that is wood got wet. When I put the slide in the board pulled off from the inside of the fiberglass. I think the water degraded the glue making the joint weak. There is no other attachment for this wood other than glue. I think the board is about a foot square.

My attempted fix was to replace the board with a new one about 2x the size. I glued this into the same location using epoxy. I let the glue dry for two days with a board on it holding it in place. I then reattached the pulleys and adjusted the cables. Everything seemed ok and I was able to run the slide in and out. When I put the slide all the way hitting the camper to the board ripped back off at the glue joint. This was my first time adjusting the cables so I might not have done it properly adding to the problem.

Not sure what to do next. I was thinking about taking the board out sanding it down then reattaching it. Then adding some bracing on the inside that would attach to the metal bracing at the back of the camper. In addition to adding ⅛ inch thick aluminum diamond plate on the outside of the camper that I’ll run bolts through the mounting board and into the bracing.

Any help with this issue and or troughs on my proposed fix will be appreciated.

Sounds like you have some pretty good ideas. I can’t help but you might try irv2.com as that is more general and not just for this ownership group.

Personally, I found a mobile RV repair guy that is terrific and would use him for something like that but he is in north L.A.

Good luck.

Dam#! That's a long slide to be suspended by those cables... Does it have rollers installed?
