High Pointe .9 cu ft Microwave issue

Hi there,

I bought my TT brand new 2 years ago and I use it about once a month or so on mostly weekend trips. I noticed last month a crack in the back of my microwave on the inside. It protrudes out of the microwave to the inside of it.

Replacing the microwave is expensive for the shipping with the same one and I found out that the microwave is manufactured in China.

I have two questions - One - Should a Microwave crack inside like that in just 2 years? I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get it replaced or just pay for the replacement product and get the shipping free.

Two - The microwave has a trim kit on it. Can I just buy a microwave from walmart or best buy with the same approximate dimensions and screw the trim kit into the outside casing with the same screws or do I need to buy a microwave that already has holes in its casing for a trim kit.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecaite. So frustrated with how things are falling apart in this TT.

Thanks,
Justine

Made in China, it doesn't surprise me that it has failed. We had a microwave last us 20+ years, but it was made in the US.

You should be able to use a Walmart microwave as long as it is the same size. I would look for some way to put the trim on using double sided tape. Unless you can see what you will be screwing to, you could hit something important, like 120V wire or?.

on mine (also High Pointe) the trim kit holds the microwave in. A unit with the same size might fit in the opening, but you might have to rig up a way to keep it in there.

I would pull the microwave out and see what your working with.

Supposedly the microwaves that are in RV's are specifically designed to take vibrations, temperature and humidity extremes compared to what you buy at the local big box stores. I have my doubts...

I used a household microwave for several years in my popup with no issues.
