When I was draining my water heater for the winter I removed the drain plug and did not see an anode attached. Would the members recommend getting one for the spring? I would have thought this was a standard item that came with the heater.

My water heater came with an anode rod but to drain the water heater you must either pull out the rod each time (WARNING- very hot water under pressure behind it) or use the low point drain (only tried this once at the end of the year so not sure how well it works). I have seen on some of the RV parts sites that there is now an anode rod with a mounted drain on the end but through research I understand they don't last as long. It's too bad Atwood didn't plan for the anode rod and provide a separate hole. Good luck in your search.
