winterizing trailer water systems

When winterizing your rvs, do you just use the rv antifreeze, or do have a way of blowing lines with air? Thus not using any antifreeze.

You can do it either way, just don't use excessive pressure if you go with air. I use 30psi or so. Make sure to still dump some RV antifreeze down all the sink and tub traps regardless of what method you use.

you can get a adaptor like this...
Amazon.com: Camco 36143 Blow Out Plug with Brass Quick Connect: Automotive
I do both. I first blow out the lines, then put the antifreeze in. I see your from Wisconsin, so If I were you, I wouldn't take the short cut by not using antifreeze. Why take a chance on a costly repair, when adding antifreeze is rather easy and cheap.

I use the adapter that Eric listed. I live in the South East so that and dumping some RV antifreeze in the P-traps is all I do. If I lived somewhere colder I would pump antifreeze into the lines. Make sure you use the bypass on the water heater and drain that down too.

That is the ONLY kind I use in my RV. Don't want automotive antifreeze in your drinking water system. It is poisonous.

I used RV antifreeze once in my first RV. I could never get the taste out of the system and it would always "foam". It may have something to do with that old camper, but I've never used it since. I always blow the lines out and antifreeze the traps. Past two winters here in Michigan were brutally cold and no issues. If you decide to blow them out, take your time and hit each water fixture several times.

Heck, it gets plenty cold here in Tennessee, but Dutchman decided to put my water pump where you can't access it without pulling the hot water heater. I wanted to antifreeze, it only took 2 gallons to do my old camper.

I can attest that just air will work, if you're careful, but I would still be more comfortable with antifreeze in my lines. Don't forget the outside spray port if you have one, ask me how I know.
