In the cabinet under the bathroom sink, I have a red pex tube that goes through a 90d elbow and then to a valve/vent that transitions to a white pex line. Both lines come out of the floor so I cannot see where they connect without some disassembly of the basement modesty panel.
What might this be? Thinking water heater bypass line?
What you are seeing is a inline vacuum breaker for the black tank flush so you do not get a backflow or siphon back contaminating the water system etc.

Ah. That makes sense. But I didn’t think there was any part of the black tank flush lines that cross-connected to the other water systems. Weird place for it from my perspective, but I guess its serviceable there. Also not sure why it uses red and white pex.
