water heater problems

I have a 1997 Dutchmen Classic 31 GL. I have shore power hooked up then I try to switch on Attwood water heater switch by range top--no red light coming on?...normal? Also there is a 3 way switch in ceiling by Microwave. Can I operate Microwave and Hot water heater at same time? Or do I have to put switch in far side for hot water heater to work? Do I also have to put Attwood switch( with red indicator light) in the on position for water heater to work on Electric? If hooked up to shore power 120volts-will Electric operation take priority over propane? Propane Furnance is working ok. So I would say Propane is in the lines. I would appreciate any help with my problems..thank you.

My way of thinking is how many amp service do you have (30 amp or 50 amp).
how much of the amps available are you already using.
what does the HW draw as well as the air conditioning. You might have to shut off an electric heater to run the air conditioning.

example:
portable heater= 1500 watts = 15 amps
Hw heater= 1000 watts = 10 amps
air conditioner= 15,000 but = 15 amps
Microwave oven= 1,000 watts= 10 amp
and that dont even cover the rest of the draw you have.

30 amp = nope.
50amp service= yup.

But then I could be wrong, which I seldom am.
