Water drain: Plugs VS valves

I have a Coleman 249RB. It has 4 drains. All four are capped with a screw on cap. These are a pain, so I bought 4 of the cheap white plastic valves. Not one would screw on...same size too. Probably me...but that's OK.

In browsing through a hardware store, I noticed 1/2inch PVC type valves that looked good. We stuck a piece of 1/2inch Pex in and it was snug.

The valve pictured is similar. The one I saw wasn't threaded.

I'm thinking this might be a good way to go. I have plenty of Pex coming down from under the belly, so if the valve breaks, I can always cut off the pipe and install another.

So the question is: What kind of PVC type glue would work with PEX?

You can't glue pex to pvc. Not sure why you don't just buy the threaded pvc shutoff valves and screw them on, it worked for me.

This will take you from the 1/2 inch PEX to the valve providing the valve threads are pipe thread.

Everything I have seen in PEX is a compression fitting. So no glue

I love fumbling thru the plumbing section looking for fitting and valves and odds and ends.....

There is always one guy in my Lowes that says, "Come this way!"

As I follow him down the isles he is grabbing stuff off the shelf. Finally he stops and puts everything in my hand. He know me well, so he just walks off at that point to let me put the puzzle together..haha

Hell, I can't even find a guy in my Lowe's to find my stuff unless I go all the way to the front and wait at the customer counter and ask. I have learned over the years to actually inspect what I pull out of the box. Some people will put a part that doesn't belong in the box, by accident of course.
I dislike my Lowe's and the only other alternative is a private, high priced lumber yard. The 10% military discount at Lowe's does pay the 9.? % sales tax though.

Replaced all of mine with twist-valves a few years ago... pretty sure I got the collars & valves at an independent RV shop in AZ. Took all of about 5 minutes to install.

Yeah... it's the angle of the photo. It appears they're dragging the ground, but they aren't. As I said, they've been there a few years now with no issues.

Thanks everyone. I'm going looking for the right hardware to put on some valves.
And I found out why you can't glue the pek..it softens it..ruining it.

Appreciate the photo ATCGuy....that helps.

Shark bite fittings work great on pex and pvc.

I've heard that shark bite fittings are not the best choice for permanent repairs on RV's. They can vibrate loose. Good for those emergencies though. I know people use them all the time, most without issue. No personal experience with them outside of residential. Just sayin'.

I have heard that too. However, I have done several repairs on RVs with Sharkbite fittings and have never had one come loose. I suspect that the ones that come loose were either SOB (not Shark Bite) or were not installed correctly. Just for the record I really do prefer the crimped fittings if I can get them in there. Interestingly enough we had a leak in the plumbing at our house a few weeks back, in a wall. It was due to an improperly crimped Pex fitting... go figure.
