toilet drain cable

2011 Voltage v3200

Has anyone had to replace the toilet drain cable .. mine just broke this morning. Not sure what's involved in replacing it ? I have no problem crawling under trailer, can I do it myself or am I better to take to dealer ?

The consensus here is the cables are too long causing unnecessary binding on the cable hence the breakage.
Firm believers feel electric valves are the way to go since you are messing with them.
I would expect one could replace the cable, they just can't be repaired as reported in prior threads.

Something like that, yes. I think the name most used is Valterra or similar. I believe it's Pirate that has done this and a few others.

Black water valve not draining properly

I have a 2015 Voltage 3970. The black water valve has not closed properly since I bought it. Today I believe the cable broke or pulled loose. How does one access it to repair or replace it? Any help appreciated even if it's telling me to get a repairman to fix it. Thanks.

A quick cheap and easy solution is to get the Valtera extension valve with it's own pull gate. Even when you get the cable fixed, it's a nice safety measure as a back up valve so you don't get any surprises.

TN RANCHER .. I purchased a replacement cable then opened the side panel to give me access behind the water control panel .. the black part of the cable (exterior) had pulled lose from the pull handle. Rather then cutting open the floor of the trailer I used a couple of small hose clamps and put coat hanger between them to hold the two parts together .. then wrapped with Gorilla tape just to add a little more strengh. Hope you can fix yours as easy.

What a perfect time to get a Valterra electric valve and be done with cable valves that just don't work.

I ordered one for my rear grey water tank last night. Appears you can't order directly from Valterra now, but you can get them from Amazon. And for less money. $193 delivered.

I have a couple of cable operated valves on my new Concord, they happen to be the Bristol brand. My cables are short 3' or less. Still a PITA, but at least they aren't 42' long and wrapped around everything in sight.

I am wondering if Bristol makes them in different sizes and they might fit on a Valtera for you guys that have the way too long cable issue.

Aside from the benefits of electric valves why couldn't a fella fabricate a replacement cable? I've done it for throttle cables on fire apparatus and many times when building custom motorcycles.
There must be someplace that sells cables that could be retro fitted for a dump valve.

When I replaced my cable pull valves...the end of the cable cannot be accessed, the assembly process covered both ends permanently. So no ability to lubricate them or shorten them....cheapo junk!!

I think if they were like motorcycle cables these days, Teflon lined, one could do something with them...but nope!!

Here is the place I used for all kinds of cables when I was a Fleet Manager. PTO & Fire Engine cables were the main ones we needed to replace.
Push Pull Cables

Yep, have them bookmarked already, just in case. I don't have a cable problem yet but when I do I'm gonna tear the valve apart to see if it can be repaired.
I haven't seen a valve so it will be interesting to see if the valve body was born with the cable attached to it.

You will most likely need to drop the underbelly for access to the valve.
