Tanks won’t drain due to being too low...

Hi, my Tanks won’t drain due to being too low. I just bought a small 19 foot Dutchmen Aspen Trail. This is our first time out with it and we are at our 2nd RV park. Due to the small RV it sits closer to the ground and the tank drain sits below the drain. So when I open black water it has to go uphill a few inches to drain and therefore it won’t. Last time I basically helped it along by picking the hose up by hand repeatedly until it drained. The hose cradle won’t work because it has to travel up a few inches regardless.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

Put lots of blocks under the trailer wheels?

Actually, there is a product that works very well in this situation. Sewer Solution. It will actually pump stuff uphill.

Another option would be a power macerator. Something like the Flo-Jet.

I bought a Sewer Solution 15+ years ago from the guy that invented it to use with my Airstream, which had a very low sewer outlet. Still used today with my current rig.

Thanks Aaron, I greatly appreciate the info. I just watched the video and I think it’ll solve my problem. Thanks again, be safe.

WOW! The breadth and width of Dutchman's incompetence astounds me. Sometimes hahahah

The RV industry is like the Auto industry 50 years ago.

We need a Datsun Company to start building RVs!

I have never owned a foreign car in my life. But this is ridiculous.

Yeah brother, I agree. I’ve been having to seesaw that **** in, no pun intended. The sewer solution that Aaron posted looks like it’ll work, but I’ve not been able to find it since we’ve been on the road so the seesawing continues. LOL.

My other option would be to get bigger tires and rims so I’ll opt for the cheaper solution for now.

Thanks for your service brother. Be safe.

I also have an Aspen trial 1900 and have not encountered this problem as the drains are usually in the ground. I have seen some standpipes that appears to have the drain a foot or so off the ground. Do you by chance have a picture of what you have encountered.

Spike,

Thank You for that. I will accept that on behalf of all those that have served in the past and are serving now!! Especially those that "gave that last full measure or devotion".

Have fun!
