Just bought camper and the water smells terrible

We are currently out on our first trip in this camper. We hooked up the fresh water, and all of the faucets smell terrible when I turn them on. It's a very strong rotten egg smell. It's not consistent but seems to get worse when I turn it on originally or adjust the pressure. I let the faucet run for about a half hour last night and it seems to have helped, but I still get whiffs of that smell. At first I though maybe it was antifreeze but I've never known it to smell like that.

Any advice?

Do what Dawniewest said. Or you can use this, its a little quicker...

Amazon.com: Thetford 36662 Fresh Water Tank Sanitizer 2 (24 oz) bottles: Automotive

Either way your tank and water lines need cleaned. I do mine every spring.

I would check the anode rod in the water heater if it has one. When they go bad it can create a smell in the water system.

Thank you. I have it in the shop this week for an awning incident that happened this weekend (first time we had it out.... blah) and I asked them to check this out for me.

I have used bleach in my camper. Just a cup and run it through the system. Most camp grounds have well water which can have bacteria and it will build up over time, especially in the hot water heater. I have well water at my house and this happens there. My plumber told me to do this every 6 months or so and I don't have the smell anymore. I just add it to my water filter, I take the filter element out first, run it till I smell the bleach in the furthest outlet let it sit for about an hour then run the water till I don't smell the bleach.
