Question Cleaning the Black Tank

Okay, I guess I have a normal RV. The Black Tank Sensor reads Full all of the time. Anyone have a simple effective way to clean the black tank to see if the sensor reading changes? And I don't want to have to install anything...

Thanks.
Dave.

Load the tank with crushed/ cubed ice (not sure how much you add or if u add water) and tow the TT around..hopefully it works...or use a garden hose connected to a water wand with small holes at the end of the wand and through the toilet into the tank..use the pressure of the water to clean as much as you can ..or do both.

Even though you have emptied the tank you may just have a piece of paper covering the sensor. I think Coops has the solution.... Good luck.

Get a cleaning wand like this:

Flexible Tank Wand - Valterra A01-0187VP - Sewer Flushing - Camping World

Works great for me.

Wow, my 50th post and what a crappy subject to be discussing . A couple of times a year just before heading out camping I add the ice but also add a little laundry soap (with fabric softener). If it's only a short trip I add a little water to make sure it splashes around, if it's a long haul I don't bother. I always wand my tank before I leave the dumping station. Have you tested your toilet paper to see if it breaks down completely? I did the test on some camper TP and it didn't break down as well as the Costco brand we use at home so when we are done with these rolls I'm only using Costco. Now I'm really happy that I didn't install the camper toilet paper hanger and went with the stand alone unit.

Just wondering Dave, when you camp you keep the valve closed until you need to dump, right? And I'm surprised your rig doesn't have a black tank flush fitting. Meanwhile another great idea Coop and Gadou regarding the wand.

I have the Sani-flush on my rig but I also bought a clear fitting that goes between the dump valve and the sewer hose which has a hose fitting on it so that you can shoot water up into the tanks.
This may work for you.
