Bad smell from kitchen sink area

2017 Aspen Train TT. There is a bad smell coming from underneath the sink. I looked and no leaks... Son-in-law as helping and said it was a ABS In-line check valve. Guess it has to do with plumbing venting. We put a baggy over it with a rubber band around it and it seems to stop the smell.
I guess these go bad huuu..? Any body else had trouble?? Guess I need to take it off and see about getting a new one. Is this a common issue?

Thanks All

I have replaced mine because of that same problem. I unscrewed it, put it in a ziploc bag, and sent my wife to Ace Hardware. 30 mins later, no more smell. Its amazing that the grey tank can smell so bad.

Yes, but all you have to do is unscrew the top piece.

Anh box store should have it. It's called an atmospheric vent.

In Canada atmospheric vents are not permitted in any application, be it in the home or RV's. We have proper 'P' traps in all our drains. You could consider replacing the vents and that'll solve all issues forever.

P-trap and atmospheric vents are two totally different animals. The atmospheric vents replace vent stacks. Even with those in place you still have P-traps.

You are correct. We have vent stacks on our TT and house as atmospheric vents are not permitted in Canada.

If there is no water in the pea trap under the sink it will allow those smells to travel from the gray tank. Keep water in that pea trap. May even help to add some pleasant smelling cleaner or a cap full of fabric softener.

We changed both the one under our kitchen sink and our bathroom sink. We used this model from Oatey: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-Su...9230/205395535. Lowe’s did not have the proper size. Took care of the smell immediately!

Every once in a while, when I think of it, I'll put toilet chemicals in the gray tank. No problems.

I kept getting the smell intermittently, and realized that it occurred after towing the trailer. Water in the P Trap was sloshing out of the trap in transit allowing the smell to come through the sink drain. I’m looking at installing the new HepvO traps to replace the conventional p traps and the vent stacks.

I treat my gray tank with chemicals just like I do my black tank. It gets flushed every outing also, just have to fill it with clean water using the faucets. It will smell bad also due to decomposing food particles in the tank.

Yep. Clean out the gray tank once in a while AND limit your food particles going down the drains will stop this from happening.

BTW, if you use biodegradable dish soap, like Dawn, that helps as well.

Bad smell coming from all gray water drains

I live in my 2017 voltage 3005 full time and all the gray tank drains Bathroom sink, shower kitchen sinks have a horrible odor, I use fabuloso, the sani sticks, clorox and water mix, and a liquid bought from the RV store that's suppose to eliminate the odors. any help is appreciated

You should probably sanitize them. Bleach. Then use Fabric Softener in the drain (tank). You should not be having a smell issue since the places you are taking about have a P trap. Check to see if your vent is vented into the RV or vented to the roof. also check to see that the vent pipe is all together.

There is a ton of ways. Bleach is the most effective that I have found and needs to be relatively high strength. here's a link that may be useful

https://www.etrailer.com/faq-clean-r...asy-steps.aspx

BUT, you may want to look and see if your gray tank is vented under your sink.

Do you drive your RV at all?
