white exterior light on 261bhs

not sure whose idea it was to put a white exterior light by the door, but the mosquitos/bugs sure like it.
Wondering if there is an orange lens cover to replace it with or an orange 1141 bulb? Looked at the local auto stores and couldnt find one that would work.

Amazon lists a few 1141 amber bulbs.

I know what you mean.. I have been thinking the same thing. Maybe find a yellow bulb but anything but a white light. Ugly,... do you know what bulb the light takes.. Mine is a Voltage with a big white light over the door.
oops didnt see the number in your post and Sundancer must have been posting as I was writing..
thanks.. 1141

It's just a plain ole single filament bayonet base bulb.
Maybe there still is some of that rattle can amber spray around that was used a few years back when the European experience hit the automotive market.

I've never had a bad experience with Amazon stuff, eBay sometimes however. I've sent stuff back to Amazon without any problems.
There is the amber spray route also. You might want to check a place like Hobby Lobby or similar for amber stained glass paint.

Any thoughts to putting in LED lights. I'm still doing the research but understand that bugs are attracted to UV light which is not present in LED lights.

Humans can't see in the UV range so it wouldn't work so well for a porch light.
There are UV LEDs but I haven't seen any placed in clusters. I have some UV LEDs but they are single units.

You don't want UV lights as they attract the bugs. On my Kodiak the porch light is about 6 feet from the door - bugs are attracted to the light but are not flying in when the door is opened (we keep the trailer dimly lit when we are outside). I don't think you can completely stop the bugs from coming to the lights all you can do is slow them down. Better yet would be to mount a LED light (or bug zapper) away from everything (make it big and bright to attract the bugs away). Just be very careful of the colour of light that is put out.

My mom-and-pop Dutchmen dealer put an amber lens on mine - works well. They had it in stock and did it when they did the de-winterizing road check ready servicing at the beginning of the year.

well, took mine in for warranty work, and they had amber lenses a plenty. They just gave it to me. Would cost 12bucks otherwise. This is a helluva lot easier than shopping for a solution. I guess there are really only a few exterior light styles according to the gal at the desk.
