Subwoofer feed back

Pulled my subwoofer out from behind the fireplace last night. Setting were all about 1/2 way. When I turned them up some all I got was bass hum. Tried different settings & swaped wires around on the back with no luck. I'm thinking that it may be wired wrong or just is N/G. Any ideas.

Sometimes on audio components like that, you may need shielded wire to get rid of the hum. I have also had some luck with grounding the chassis of all your components, and that may help. Another thing to try (and this is a problem on these rigs) is make sure all you cable runs are straight, with no coiled wires. The guys that build these always like to give you a few extra feet coiled up somewhere.

See my other post Rat, I think it will make sense. However, anytime a speaker wire is in contact with a power wire of any type, it will pick up some feedback. Just make sure the audio red/white aren't laying near or cable tied to the power wires.

Wires behind the Sony unit are fun to deal with. Audio to the sub-woofer isn't anywhere close to the power wire for the sub-woofer but are next to the Sony power wires. Problem is with the Sony unit. I'll just have to deal with no sub-woofer, not a big deal for me. If I hadn't of read post here I wouldn't have even known there was one.
