Smoking panel

After moving my rv, plugged backing to powe and after a few minutes the panel by the door started smoking. Could not any wires that looked hot. I suspect that it is a breaker. We have trouble with the 50 Amp breakers at the power panel melting. Just wandering if anyone else has had this problem. I can't seem find a wiring diagram for it.

There are hundreds of possibilities.

Post year, make, and model # of RV. Add it to your "signature line" or in your profile.

A 50 amp 240 volt dual breaker may melt due to loose or corroded connections. The connections can be external or internal. Disconnect power and check tightness of screw connections for external connections. Replace breaker for internal failures.

Any other loose or corroded connections can cause excessive heat when high current is flowing.

Connections can overheat on transfer switches, plugs, sockets, branch breakers, neutral buss bar, battery charger, inverter, etc. Check temperature when high current is flowing. Example: Start two air conditioners and an electric water heater. Some battery chargers draw high current when shore power is connected because batteries may be deeply discharged.
