OK, now it's your turn to give us the skinny on the screw

What size, what head??

Some of those Lippert videos are down on the floor with proper lighting, script, and a previous walk through. Ain't no way one of them fancy pretty boys would tackle a job dead out cold.

Bill glad we could all help you get through this process to remove that motor. I think it's a shame we spent the money we did on these campers and not get some kind of owners manual that we could look at with pictures and text on some of at least the basic mechanical operations such as slides. You are right about the you tube videos very vague.

Isn't that the truth...but with a forum like this and self reliant and resourceful people even the likes of Dutchmen and their poor business can't keep us down. Called Dutchmen to find which motor is number 1 and number 2 and there apparently is no standard. Oh well thanks. Bill

As a note for number of slide cycles since I have had my 2014 is more than a 115 times in and out. During that time I had an issue that was probably my (wife) operating slide in an unlevel position. Issue remedied by resetting controller. Now it appears I have a bad motor. I took it out and put back in for a quick boondocker and it is working. All in all if motors work that long I am not going to complain that much. Also after looking at a cyclone with hydraulic slides nice but heavy and take up storage under main bed. Here's hoping!!!

Slide issue

Received my motors on Monday and replaced both. Although part numbers were the same the new motors were totally silver with a transparent plastic cap on the top. The motor had a much nicer and quality sound. During operation Thought I would change both motors out as I use my unit a lot. On the side that didn't throw a code found some problems. The area of the bearing block on which the motor sits moved quite a bit during operation. Also the the motor retention screw didn't stabilize the motor. Pulled motor back out and ran self tapping screw back into frame opening keeping it lined up with up with the lower framing. Also added a shim to hold motor stable during operation. At first I was very concerned but the slide works as good as it ever had. Sure I read a post here where someone pulled their slide completely tuned everything up and the slide was able to be moved by hand. Motors would have an easy time!!! Wish I had a fork lift to do this as well. Sounds to me like there is a real need for someone to specialize in resolving this issue which appears to be a careful and exacting installation of this style of slide

Glad to hear you are becoming that specialized Person Bill! My wife and I waited out for the right time to buy our 3970 and that unit no longer has the gear driven slides. While cables might not as exotic as the gear motor setup, I think I will be in good shape.

As you might have seen I use my unit a lot in less than 2 years we have cycled the slide just under 120 cycles. I think like many that proper installation is the key. I hope you enjoy your unit half as much as we have enjoyed ours!!!! Congratulations. Bill
