Rv gps

Despite having a GPS in my tow vehicle, I am considering getting a portable dash mounted unit that is more conducive to RV use; one that you enter your height, width, etc. for safe route planning. Magellan, Rand McNally, and others make them. Some even have RV site information. Anyone have a preference or recommendation?
Thanks

We've been using the Rand McNally GPS from Good Sam for the past year. It's specifically designed for RV's, and it allows the user to enter the height, length, weight and type of RV. It gives you speed, curve, hill, work zone and clearance warnings. I also have in-dash navigation, but that unit frequently sends me on routes that I wouldn't want to take the trailer on!

I've got the Garmin RV unit as well. I won't say it's perfect, but it does an adequate job. The problem with most any GPS unit is that the databases are notoriously flawed and/or outdated.

As I'm a long-time Garmin customer, using their units on my motorcycles, I've gotten used to the way they navigate one to a destination... which usually keeps me clear of any 'bad' turns. Plus, I know they provide updates to their maps at least once per quarter... which seems to be more than other brands that I know about.
