Prewired Solar???

I have a 2019 Coleman 1605FB with a pre wire solar connection. I have no documentation or information in the owners manual about it. My question is, how do I begin putting in a solar system with that connection? Is this just a port to plug a portable panel in? Is it really nothing if I want to put panels on the roof and install an inverter? New to all of this.....minimal electrical experience. Thank you

Likely just a 12 volt port directly wired to your battery or batteries. It will either have a Furrion round connection that looks like a microphone connector but only has two leads or an oval SAE connector similar to what you find on a battery tender.

Either way you need everything else from a solar panel to a controller to make it work.

I have a "solar ready" Kodiak Cub. It consists of a 12 volt socket next to the equipment bay door, a 12 gage wire leading to the nearby battery box, and a fuse.
Mostly it is good for advertising "solar ready". The only other use is with a portable solar panel that has its own controller.

Since it's only use is mostly for advertising, there is nothing in my owners manual either.
Some higher end TT's are pre-wired to the roof and have heavier cabling. That is more useful, but even they are some what limited and usually do not include a controller. They often have to be modified for what an owner actually wants to install.
I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!

Installing solar and inverter

I have been professionally installing RV solar and electronics for years. In my experience, people who know little about electrical will have problems and not get a good install. The internet is full of misinformation on RV solar and electrical. Half my customers do it themselves, but with my advice and oversight.

That being said, you can buy a portable panel on the internet, one with a built in charge controller, and the appropriate adapter for your RV, for under $300. Add another $25-50 to get an extension cable.

You can call me if you want to chat about it. Leisure Solar Grand Junction

Solar Panel

You can buy a 100 watt panel with controller and cables for $189.99. Sometimes they run them on sale at $149.99.
