I would just pull the battery and keep it somewhere above freezing (at minimum) for the winter, it's best if you can charge it occasionally or hook a battery tender to it. It will prematurely kill your battery to leave it outside not connected to some type of charger.

Yes, but as suggested by WILD. Put in in a garage or some place warmer than Illinois in winter. And keep it charged.
Have fun

Took battery out for the windows terminal and put in basement at my house. Also put in a disconnect switch on the - side of battery , bought a 20 inch ground cable to make it work, turned out good. Nay post picture later, forgot to take 1 today. In the off position it kills everything

What's a "windows terminal" (scratching head).

Just my 2 cents worth as an electronics tech - keep the battery on a maintenance charger until you need it and DO NOT store it on bare concrete floor, use a board under it 1/2" or better to keep from a leaching discharge.

Years ago I put my motorcycle in storage as I embarked on a one-year remote tour in the military. It was an expensive battery, so I took it home, connected a little trickle charger (this was before maintenance chargers) to a 24 hr timer, set to go "on" for one hour each day. One year later, the thing was unplugged; my wife said she needed the outlet right after I left, and forgot to put it back in service. I bought a new battery! LOL
