2018 Kodiak Ultra Lite 264rlsl power issue

We are Newbies... just purchased our TT. We purchased a new battery because we knew the one on it was bad! Got it home, leveled it, opened the slide, plugged it in.... now the battery is dead and none of the electric is working! Is there a switch somewhere that we didnt turn on/off? Can someone PLEASE explain why nothing works when its plugged in directly to Shore? All fuses are new.... we are lost and need help, please!

Was it plugged into shore power when you did all those things?

It was plugged in when we opened the slide, the 4 leveling Jack's are manual. The one on the tongue is electric.

Then things like the fridge, AC, TV, etc (depending on your model) remain on when you disconnect the shore power. There are also little items like Vampire taps that will suck the life out of your batteries if you don't disconnect them or provide an alternate source of power (solar or battery trickle charger). My RV keeps the fridge running when I disconnect the power!

Best to put a battery switch that disconnects ALL battery power so NOTHING runs.

Good luck!

Okay, I understand that.... but nothing is working when plugged in to the Shore power! But the plug and cord have power.

Sorry, I must have missed when you mentioned that. Since nothing is working even the 120 volt stuff when you are plugged into shore power, I would trace that out. They wouldn't have put a hard-wired surge suppressor in would they?

Did you check the fuse panel inside of your tv to make sure all the breakers are on?

Power Loss

This is a good starting point...
12 volt Side of Life part 1
The 12volt Side of Life (Part 1)

12 volt Side of Life part 2
The 12volt Side of Life Part 2
Some of the information is a little dated, but it is still pretty good.

Shore power provides power to AC, microwave, and various outlets. Do any of these things work? If they do then move on to 12 volt side. If not look for breakers tripped (switch "off", then back "on"). External power cord connector may be loose. Pedestal breaker may be "off".

Shore power also supplies power to a converter/charger. The converter should power 12 volt lights, fans, controller for water heater, controller for refrigerator, and other 12 volt things. Do any of these things work? If so, continue for individual appliances that do not work.

Many RV's have a "salesmen switch". It will be near the entry door. It turns most 12 volt appliances "off". Turn it "off", then back "on".

Check fuses. Mine has 30 amp and 40 amp main fuse. They may be in a main fuse panel. Sometimes you can see they are blown, sometimes not. Get replacements and substitute as a test. It is always good to have spare fuses. You can also remove and ohm test across the blades or measure voltage across the fuses. Voltage should always be zero.

Individual 12 volt appliance may have a dedicated circuit. Check fuses for that circuit.

There are many possible wiring situations. Please post make and model of converter/charger. It is also possible you have an inverter and/or a transfer switch. Make and model gets you better advice.

All breakers are on. All fuses are good. Shore power is plugged in. The microwave display (clock) is on. No lights work. We've found the deck mounted converter behind the breakers & fuse panel. We are leaning towards replacing it. We have not found an inverter, though. Dont most TT have them? If so, how can we make sure it is the converter or inverter that is bad?

Still need make and model for better advice. Do you have a manual for the converter? Look inside the fuse panel cover for a label or on the converter/charger.

Most TT do not have a factory installed inverter. If they do, it is usually combined with the battery charger. Inverter is "off" and battery charger is "on" when connected to shore power. Inverter is "on" and battery charger "off" when not plugged in.

My TT has a 15 amp 120 circuit breaker dedicated to the converter/charger. If it is "off", there is no 12 volt output. If it is "on", output is 13.6 volts.

Mine has a 40 amp 12 volt fuse that is blown if battery is hooked up backwards. It also has a 30 amp 12 volt fuse that will blow if more than 30 amps is drawn from the battery through the fuse panel. Your main 12 volt fuses may be different sizes.

Each fuse panel fuse has a tiny red light next to it

Just to clarify....
You said the microwave time display is on... (?) did you try to turn on ( run ) the microwave?
There are several "normal looking" electrical outlets in the rig... on kitchen countertop areas.. in the bath by the sink... and on the exterior ... and these could( probably are) be 'ground fault' type of receptacles. These are all 110v and only are powered when" plugged in"( shore/generator)
The lights in the rig are all 12v..
.. the power needed to run the heater ( controls and fan) along with the power needed to run the controls for the fridge is 12v. Your fridge will operate (cool) on either propane or 110v and typically does so automatically.
Normally a good idea to only run the slide(s) out ( or in) when plugged in.....

Great news. Sounds like a pretty easy fix.
