Water leak at front door
Nothing I like more than repairing the blind installer's crappy caulking job. I know they're blind because they use great care in slathering caulking all over the place.
I've been chasing water intrusion at the front door for awhile. I finally tracked the problem down to it being a **** poor caulking job at the door frame of the exterior TV bay.
Two hours in the heat cleaning and prepping the surfaces for new caulking is not my favorite thing to do.
The blind installers screwed in the door frame and then rubbed caulking all over the outside edge of the frame. The inside of the frame has a lip where it would be more beneficial to run a bead of caulk. That way the seal is between two surfaces instead of the thin edge of the frame.
Here's the intrusion of the dirt and moisture that eventually made its way under the wall and out on the floor.
Of course removing caulking close to the decals lends for damage to the decal.
Application of some vinyl lettering repairs this problem.
The decal repair and proper caulking completes the job that should had been done at the factory.
