I already see how this is going to play out... When I finally do have the penitration, it will be denied by roof manufacturer because it was not a defective membrane that failed, and of course Keystone will say... we are sorry, but your 1 year warrenty ran out because your unit was in repair shop for over 200 days....
The other part that bothers me is what part do those screws play in the integrity of the roof trusses (stringers is probably more accurate) as they are about 2 feet apart from each other.
Well I am approaching 260 days in repair shops but I finally got Keystone to do something about the screws under the roof membrane. After making 3 calls to thier "customer service" department, I actually talked to someone who seemed to care (his name is Ben). He said he would see what he could do about it. And two hours later, I got a call from my servicing dealer who said that Keystone called them and wants them to resubmit the warrenty claim, but they didn't know why.
I called Keystone back to ask Ben what he had worked out. He said he remembered when they used to cut a small hole in membrane and find out where screws are suppose to be attaced and fix it. Then they would install small roof (attic) vents over they cuts they made and seal it all. That is what he got approved for repair work. He said that these vents also help reduce heat and humidity in the camper.
So, they aren't going to pull the whole roof membrane but they do have a plan to stop the screws from tearing through the membrane.

What do ya'll think, are the addition of roof vents a good thing (verses screws poking through the membrane) or was he just blowing smoke up my back side?

I would have to check and see just how substantial the TPO on the RV roof is, but the TPO we use in commercial applications can be thermal welded, which makes it pretty much a monolithic membrane. I don't see why they would add vents, that they don't put in at the factory. That sounds a bit screwy to me. I could see cutting a small hole, repairing the screws and then putting a patch over the area. That is a reasonable roof repair IMHO. We do that on building roofs all the time. The only time we do a re-roof or overlay is there are too many patches on a new roof. Then it is a warranty issue, driven by the manufacturer.

Kind of agree with Aaron on why not just cut the membrane large enough to affect repairs, then patch? However don't really see a down side to having vents put in either. They come in handy.
