I don't know if I can list all of them...
I have been messing with RV's since I was in my late teens. I would buy distressed units, repair them and sell them to my deer hunting buddies. I would keep the better ones use them for a couple of years, then sell them. Probably one of the better deals I had was partial ownership in a 1986 Bluebird Wanderlodge. That was an awesome RV. I would love to have another one, but the maintenance costs are pretty high.

Here is my list as best as I can recall.
  • Popups 3
  • Travel Trailers 6-7
  • Fifth Wheels 1
  • Pickup Campers 2
  • Class C 1
  • Class A 2

I've had 2 enclosed trailers... one of which I had custom made with 30amp service & lights that I was going to use as a camper. Ended up going to my current 5th wheel instead.

Before that, I was Marriott & Hilton type guy.

We started out with a 87 VW Vanagon Syncro (still nostalgic) thinking of it. It literally blew up on a trip (threw a rod through the block)after 13 years, 2 engines and 3 transmissions we moved onto a Fleetwood E2 tent trailer. After a few years of that we are now in a 14' Kodiak 240BHSL which we LOVE.

I have had a kit 26' trailer with bunks (used when Daughter was younger), Then nothing for quite a while. Next was Coleman popup pulled with our Dodge Magnum. Took three over 4,000 miles trips with that (got really good a put up and take down). Then 16' Fun Finder, a few more trip then sold it for our new Aspen Trail 19'. Still waiting for out shake down trip. Way to much rain and colds for both of us.

This is our first travel trailer

Over the years my wife and I did quite a bit of tent camping, which evolved into camping in a self converted Chevy conversion van. When that van died, I transferred the internals to a new conversion van. Used that van mostly boy scout troop camping with my sons until it died.

Now here we are 9 years later, being the proud owners of a 2016 Aspen train 1900B which we have yet to take out. Compared to our previous camping experience This trailer represents living in the "lap of luxury"
We cant wait til spring arrives!! so we can get it in shape for when we retire in the next year or so...

Too funny. In a past relationship, we had a family Bluebird, a 35FC, 320 Cat turbo, then a BMC Workstation Q - long story about that one. Those Wanderlodges were built like tanks,,,,,,,, if you had a chance to tour the factory it was impressive. Too bad they aren't made any more.
Anyway, first a sob 26' North TRail 22FBS, now a Denali 287RE.

Wink Memories

Desert Rat,
What a great question. Wife and I went over some of our travels and had a great time reminiscing over the many trips we took tent camping and in the old conversion vans. It just made us more anxious to take the new TT out for a try.. We're gonna make some new memories!!!
Great Question...

Mike,
Until you brought it up, I didn't know what vinyl wrap was. I really like the idea of wrapping those cargo doors to match the surrounding paint job... I'll be looking for those posted pics..
All the best.

i remember those one wheeled trailers, my dad had a cargo version. My first popup was an old Cox that someone gave me, then I had a Viking, followed by a huge Coleman Niagara. I liked the Viking the best.

When my family started camping, we initially rented a pop-up from MWR at Lackland AFB in Texas. We took it out to West Texas for a couple of days to see if the kids would enjoy camping. On our return to San Antonio we stopped at a campground near Fort Stockton. That night it was very windy and needless to say, the wife and kids were a bit scared as the trailer was shaking and rattling. Needless to say we decided to get one with solid walls instead. Our first camper was a Thor Layton Scout 310. Had that for 13+ years before we moved up to our Kodiak 300BHSL.

You haven't lived until you survive a howling wind in a pop-up.

We were on our way home from a trip to the southwest, somewhere in northern Colorado we stopped for the night. It was a bit breezy that night (wind gusts to 60mph), when we get up the next morning another camper comes over and tells us that he was amazed that we were still there. It seems that during the night the wind was lifting the pop-up and moving us some every-time a gust hit. Never even felt it once we got rocked to sleep.

Oh, I forgot, the pop-up was being towed behind by my Electra-Glide. With both of us in it wasn't much more than 500 pounds.

Sometimes I miss the good old days, then I wake up from my day dream!

Over the years me have gone from a Volkswagon Beetle loade to the gunnels and a bunch of stuff hanging of the roof, to a big pop-up towed by a K-car station wagon, to a van conversion, to a truck camper, to the M/C pop-up and finally worked our way through several travel trailers.

Loved every minute that we spent in each one of them.

I started camping with my parents in the '50s. Tents and leantos in the forrests of the White Mountians of Arizona. Folks bought an Airstream after I left home.

I inherited the Airstream and lived n it my senior year of college in Spokane and a year in Salt Lake. Since then I have tented on the back of my motorcycles, owned a popup (Bunkhouse) that we pulled behind the bike and Subaru. Bought a 25' Onyx in '11 and will bick up our new Denali tomorrow.

So: pup tents - at least 5
Pop-up campers - 1
Thavel trailers - 3
