What is the best way to change a tire on your tandem axle trailer?

We just bought a used fifth wheel and I'm looking for the best way to change tires. Anyone using those ramps like "trailer aid" available through Amazon?

What size of tires do you have? I found they will work on 14" may work on 15" & don't work on 16" tires. Doesn't really have anything to do with the tire but more to do with the suspension.

We have 15" rims. By "dont work" I assume you are talking about the ramp not lifting the trailer high enough to get the second tire off the ground, right?

When on the road, I've used the jack from my tow vehicle. I ended up changing all four tires, one axel at a time, using the spare to hold one side on our last camping trip. Not recommended, especially if you are in sand.

If I'm working on the RV at home, I have the luxury of a heavy duty roller jack.

Last flat I got on the road, I used Good Sam Roadside Assistance to come out, and put the spare on. Priceless!

I carry an 8 ton bottle jack from Harbor Freight and it takes up very little room. I've tried it out at home and it works so great on my trailer and dually truck that I decided not to buy a floor jack.

If your trailer doesn't have any sort of equalizer suspension system they will work fine. They SHOULD work on campers with 14-15" tires with any type of suspension. However the real factor is how much suspension drop out there is.

I tried one on my trailer with the 16" tires and an equalizer suspension and it wouldn't lift the second tire.
